520		3	_aIntroduction: Functional capacity represents an important indicator of health condition of the individual with diabetes mellitus, especially in older adult, given that diabetes may cause physical tiredness, fatigue, muscle weakness and decrease planter sensitivity, which associated with natural changes by aging. Purpose: to investigate the effect of 2 Min step test versus 6 Min walk test on physical capacity in diabetic neuropathy. Patient & Method: The study was carried out on 60 patients suffering from diabetes mellitus with neuropathy with an age was ranged from 40:70 years old the patients were selected from King Khaled Hospital. Heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, Borg scale, O2 saturation, walking distance and number of step and blood glucose level were measured before and after of the six minute walking test and 2 minute step test. Results: The statistical analysis revealed that no significant differences (P>0.05) in mean values of type II DM patient‘s age (P=0.674), fasting blood glucose level (P=0.645), Hb A1C (P=0.734), and duration of DM disease (P=0.880) between six-minute walk test group vs. two-minute step test group. There were correlation between the 6 minute walking test and 2 min step test when were asked to assess functional capacity. Conclusion: The 2 minute step test and 6 minute walking test used to measure functional capacity in diabetic neuropathy patients and 2 minute step test could be used when there were difficulties to use 6 minute walking test.
520		3	_aالمقدمة: تمثل القدرة الوظيفية مؤشرًا مهمًا للحالة الصحية للفرد المصاب بداء السكري، وخاصة لدى كبار السن، نظرًا لأن المرض قد يسبب التعب الجسدي والإرهاق وضعف العضلات وانخفاض حساسية القدم، والتي ترتبط بالتغيرات الطبيعية في الشيخوخة. الغرض من هذه الدراسة: هو تأثير اختبار الخطوة لمدة دقيقتين مقابل اختبار المشي لمدة 6 دقائق على القدرة البدنية في اعتلال الأعصاب السكري. المرضى وطرق البحث: أجريت الدراسة على 60 مريضًا يعانون من داء السكري مع اعتلال الأعصاب تراوحت أعمارهم بين 40:70 عامًا وتم اختيار المرضى من مستشفى الملك خالد. تم قياس معدل ضربات القلب وضغط الدم الانقباضي وضغط الدم الانبساطي ومقياس بورج وتشبع الأكسجين ومسافة المشي وعدد الخطوات ومستوى السكر في الدم قبل وبعد اختبار المشي لمدة ست دقائق واختبار الخطوة لمدة دقيقتين. النتائج: أظهر التحليل الإحصائي عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية (P>0.05) في متوسط قيم عمر مريض السكري من النوع الثاني (P = 0.674)، ومستوى سكر الدم الصائم (P = 0.645)، وHb A1C (P = 0.734)، ومدة مرض السكري (P = 0.880) بين مجموعة اختبار المشي لمدة ست دقائق مقابل مجموعة اختبار الخطوة لمدة دقيقتين. كان هناك ارتباط بين اختبار المشي لمدة 6 دقائق واختبار الخطوة لمدة دقيقتين عندما طُلب منهم تقييم القدرة الوظيفية. الخلاصة: إن اختبار الخطوات لمدة دقيقتين واختبار المشي لمدة 6 دقائق المستخدمان لقياس القدرة الوظيفية لدى مرضى الاعتلال العصبي السكري واختبار الخطوات لمدة دقيقتين يمكن استخدامهما عندما تكون هناك صعوبات في استخدام اختبار المشي لمدة 6 دقائق.
