| 520 | 3 | _aThis work introduces meticulous modeling approaches to facilitate the decision-making process for System (I): petroleum oil flow in a heat-traced piping segment and System (II): Thermal black liquor processing. The implemented methodology approach is common for both systems in terms of mitigating the impact of complexity issues on its modeling, saving the operating expenditure and reducing system-level modeling representation. For System (I), simulation model has been developed by Aspen HYSYS to ensure the integrity of oil flow above its pour point in coordination with COMSOL. For System (II), simplified and rigorous approaches have been developed to simulate the steady state pulping process, particularly the black liquor evaporation and combustion processes for energy and chemicals recovery, and steam production. The chief goals of the present work are to manipulate the modeling parameters properly, coordinate software effectively and to introduce an automated interface that facilitates the interoperability between Aspen Plus® and MATLAB®. | |
