520		3	_aBackground: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent progressive degenerative disorder, with rising prevalence throughout age. It is thought to be a contributing factor in knee discomfort and functional impairment. Purpose: This study was conducted to identify if there are any differences in calf muscle performance in terms of muscle girth, isometric peak torque and isokinetic parameters ( peak torque, total work and power) in patients with knee osteoarthritis and matched control volunteers. Methods: Twenty-four male and female patients were diagnosed & referred with unilateral KOA and 24 other control matched volunteers participated in this study. Their ages ranged from 40 to 65 years and their body mass indexes ranged from 18.5 kg/m2 to 28.7 kg/m2. They all were assessed and compared for muscle girth, isokinetic concentric peak torque, isokinetic eccentric peak torque, isokinetic concentric total work, isokinetic eccentric total work, isokinetic concentric power average, isokinetic eccentric power average, isometric peak torque between the affected unilateral KOA patients and the control matched volunteers. Results: There are no significant differences in terms of muscle girth and isokinetic concentric total work (p > 0.05), while there are significant differences in terms of isokinetic concentric peak torque, isokinetic eccentric peak torque, isokinetic eccentric total work, isokinetic concentric power, isokinetic eccentric power, and isometric peak torque (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: Based on the scope and findings of this study, it was concluded that there were no significant differences in terms of muscle girth and isokinetic concentric total work while there were significant differences in terms of isokinetic concentric peak torque, isokinetic eccentric peak torque, isokinetic eccentric total work, isokinetic concentric power, isokinetic eccentric power, and isometric peak torque between the affected unilateral KOA patients and the control matched volunteers.
520		3	_aالخلفية: خشونة الركبة اضطراب شائع بين المرضى بمعدل حروث متزايد مع تقدم العمر. ينتج عنه عدم راحة واختلال في وظائف الركبة. الهدف: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على هل توجد اختلافات بين عضلة السمانة في الناحية المتأثرة لمرضى خشونة الركبة بالمقارنة مع الضابطين المتطوعين الأصحاء المتطابقين مع أعمارهم في محيط العضلة، والتقييم الأيزوكينيتكوالأيزوميتريك. العينة والطرق: ضمت هذه الدراسة أربعة وعشرون مريضاً وأربعة وعشرون من الضابطين المتطوعين الأصحاء المتطابقين مع أعمارهم من كلا الجنسين. تراوحت أعمارهم بين 40 إلى 65 عاماً، ومؤشر كتلة الجسم بين 18.5 و28.7 كجم/م2. وتم قياس محيط العضلة، والتقييم الأيزو كينيتك والأيزوميتريك باستخدام مازورة القياس، والديناموميتر على الترتيب. النتائج: توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين الناحية المتأثرة لمرضى خشونة الركبة بالمقارنة مع الضابطين المتطوعين الأصحاء المتطابقين مع أعمارهم في جميع المتغيرات التابعة ماعدا محيط العضلة والعمل الكلي الأيزوكينيتك متحد المركز. الاستنتاج: لا توجد أي اختلافات معتبرة في متغيرات محيط العضلة والعمل الكلي الأيزوكينيتك متحد المركز بينما توجد اختلافات معتبرة في متغيرات عزم الدوران الأقصى الأيزوكينتك متحد المركز، عزم الدوران الأقصى الأيزوكينتك متشتت المركز، العمل الكلي الأيزوكينيتك متشتت المركز، معدل القوة الأيزوكينتك متحد المركز، معدل القوة الأيزوكينتك متشتت المركز، وعزم الدوران الأقصى الأيزوميتريك بين عضلة السمانة في الناحية المتأثرة لمرضى خشونة الركبة بالمقارنة مع الضابطين المتطوعين الأصحاء المتطابقين مع أعمارهم
