These colors not only harm ecosystems, but they are also extremely risky to human health as they are poisonous, mutagenic, and carcinogenic. As a result, wastewater treatment needs long-lasting, fast, and cheap technology that can get rid of these kinds of pollutants. This thesis discusses an eco-friendly, nature-inspired synthesis of nickel–metal organic framework (Ni/MOF) composites paired with tea-derived magnetite nanoparticles, as well as chitosan-modified Ni/MOF-magnetite composites, for the batch adsorption of harmful dyes from wastewater. SEM, TEM, BET surface area analysis and XRD have been used to confirm that the morphology, porosity, and structural integrity of the synthesized materials. Two model pollutants were explored (Rhodochrome and Erythrosine). Rhodochrome (Kammererite), a chlorite dye with no previously recorded removal method via batch adsorption, and Erythrosine, a common colorant in food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics, which has raised health concerns due to its potential mutagenic and carcinogenic effects. The adsorption process was systematically analyzed across various pH levels, adsorbent amounts, dye concentrations, agitation speeds, contact times, and temperatures. The best conditions for getting rid of Rhodochrome (pH 8, 5 minutes at 600 rpm, 0.07 g of adsorbent) got rid of 93% of it, and after three reuse cycles, the efficiency stayed at 85%. The removal of erythrosine was more than 99% effective at pH 5 using 0.03 g of adsorbent, and it stayed 84% effective after five cycles. Without changing the temperature, both methods worked well. The isotherm analysis showed that Rhodochrome adsorbed using the Temkin method and Erythrosine adsorbed using the Langmuir monolayer method. This study demonstrates the eco-friendliness of the nanocomposites in adsorbing various colors, along with an assessment of economic feasibility, environmental impact, and industrial scalability. A novel method for eliminating Rhodochrome and Erythrosine dyes was introduced, addressing a significant gap in wastewater treatment research and promoting the adoption of eco-friendly water purification technology. | |
