520 _aThe FDTD model created for microstrip patch antenna element is upgraded to analyze microstrip antenna arrays as well The simulation is applied on both antenna array classifications of MIMO systems as well as conventional phased array Using this model , an investigation for the mutual coupling between different antenna classifications / arrangements is studied The used antenna geometry is rectangular patch The effect of changing the dielectric constant as well as the substrate thickness on mutual coupling level is studied Different feed techniques are used to investigate the feed effect on the coupling level Mutual coupling change with polarization is investigated Multiple sub - array element arrangements are used to compare the coupling for E - plane , H - plane and Orthogonal - plane arrangements Finally , an array designer aid tool is established to help in building a diversity reception microstrip array antenna
