| 520 | _a Insulin resistance (IR) occurs early in HCV infection and may affects liver fibrosis progression, treatment response and synergizes development of HCC. We thus studied prevalence of IR in HCV patients and correlation between IR and hepatic fibrosis. Fifty HCV, non diabetic patient were enrolled; Quantitative HCV RNA was assayed by PCR, histological assessment by liver biopsy was done and IR index assessed by using HOMA-IR, and an index value {u2265} 2.5 was designated IR and 10 normal subjects were studied as control. In this study prevalence of IR was 38% vs 62% p = 0.005, there is significant correlation between IR and hepatic fibrosis and inflammatory activity | ||
