520 _aTwo field experiments were carried out during the two successive seasons of 2009 and 2010 at the agricultural research and experiment station, of Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt. The aims of this study were to: evaluate of sixteen Egyptian cotton varieties for yield and their components, evaluate the relative efficiency of lattice design relative to randomized complete blocks design for yield and yield components in field cotton trials, modlling the relationship between yield, yield components and some fiber characteristics to determine the most important characters that can be used as selection criteria for yield and quality and estimation of the optimum plot size and number of replications. The genetic materials were used in the part one of this experiment included sixteen Egyptian cotton (G. barbadense L.) varieties and in part two of this experiment included two Egyptian cotton varieties. Highly significant differences were detected between varieties for all studied traits. Highly significant and positive correlation estimates were detected between seed cotton yield and each of number of fruiting branches per plant, number of opening bolls, lint cotton yield per plant, seed cotton yield per plant, lint cotton yield per plot, seed yield per plot and lint percentage. On the other hand, number of dry bolls per plant showed negative association with seed cotton yield. Estimates of relative precision varied between 100.0% to 194.5% for different lattice design
