520 _aLiver cirrhosis represents a major challenge to the Egyptian medical system. Intensivests frequently deal with those patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis who require (ICU) admission for various acute complications of advanced liver failure. It represents an important part of the complex, integrated management of end-stage cirrhosis. Despite offered medical service for cirrhotic patients needing critical care support, those patients still have poor outcomes. In our study we compared various scoring systems including those generally in the ICU (APACHE II and SOFA scores) and those used in patients with liver diseases (CPT and MELD scores). Seventy five patients were involved in our study at Theodor Bilhariz Research Institute. Scores were measured on admission and later on discharge, mortality or the seventh day of stay. Comparison between survivors and non survivors was performed regarding different scoring systems, causes of admission, therapies used and cost of stay. Cost of stay and interventions compared for patients between CPT class B and CPT class C as well. We used those scores to reach a cut off point for patients admitted to the ICU with decompensated liver cirrhosis
