| 520 | _aIn the past the anatomical studies were used to distinguish between different Lymnaea species. In this study RFLP technique was used on a partial sequence of the 18S rDNA to differentiate between different species of Lymnaea snails which are the intermediate host of Fasciola. The 18S gene is part of the ribosomal functional core and recently it is becoming one of the most frequently used genes in phylogenetic studies and for identification and classification of living organisms, owing to their repetitive arrangement within the genome as they provide excessive amounts of template DNA for PCR, even in smallest organisms | ||
