520 _aThe aim of present study was to prepare different cost effective activated carbons from agro-industrial wastes to be used as adsorbents for decontamination of polluted water. In the first and second parts of this study, a highly porous activated carbon was successfully prepared from olive cake waste for the removal of p-nitrophenol. A full factorial 23 was employed in order to optimize the preparation conditions of Olive cake based activated carbon. Batch adsorption experiment was done using Olive cake based activated carbon (OCAC) for the removal of p-nitrophenol. The adsorption data were modeled by equilibrium and kinetic models. The third part of this study included chemical preparation of activated carbon from Nigella sativa L. waste for the removal of coomassie brilliant blue dye. The kinetics and isothermal studies of coomassie brilliant blue adsorption onto from Nigella sativa based activated carbon were investigated. The last part of this study included preparation of magnetic nanocomposite activated carbon (MNSA) from Nigella sativa L. waste using iron salts. Batch adsorption experiment was used to optimize the proper conditions by employing a central composite design of experiment. Finally a case study was done for applying the results of the pilot study on real waste water sample using all adsorbents prepared in the present study
