520 _aBackground: Pressure injury is a particular health problem as it results in an increased length of stay, greater patient suffering, higher mortality rates and an undue economic burden to the health system.There remains a steady increase in litigation related to either the development or management of hospital acquired pressure ulcers. aim: The aim of the current work is to assess the medicolegal responsibility of hospital acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs). Subjects & methods: The presented work is a prospective observational cross-sectional study conducted on 81 patients with pressure ulcers who were admitted to Kasr Al-Ainy Intensive Care Unitsthrough a period of 6 months from August 2019 to January 2020. Results: The highest incidence of PUs was found in the elderly group (>55 years). Half of the patients stayed between (7-21) days, while 44% stayed more than 21 days, only 6% stayed less than 7 days.Regarding medical history (22%) have both (DM & HTN). Most patients were mechanically ventilated (60%). Nursing care measures had high statistical significance with stool and urine control were carried out in most of the patients (94%), frequent positioning of the patients was done in only (36%) of patients, neglected in (64%) of patients.Care of wounds was done in most of the patients (88%).Elevation of patient{u2019}s heels was established in (77%) and neglected in (23%) of the patients
