Specimens of stainless steel 410S were welded using Electrode E309LT1, preheat at 300C was conducted. Post-weld heat treatment was carried-out at 600C and 700C for one hour. To evaluate the effect of post-weld heat treatment on properties of the welded specimens the microstructure, hardness, impact test and tensile test were carried-out. Also a simulation of HAZ properties was done by heating specimens of the base metal at different temperatures in the range from [750C to 1300C]. Post-weld heat treatment increased the impact toughness from 50J to 124J after tempering at 600C and to 180J after tempering at 700C. Other properties were not significantly affected. Simulation of HAZ by heating specimens of 410S at different temperatures from 750C to 1300C for 30 minutes showed good correlation with hardness distribution in HAZ and base metal and with the microstructure distribution of actual as-welded HAZ. However marked grain growth occurred especially in specimens heated to 1200 and 1300C indicating that the time of heating should be as low as possible (about 10 to 15 min.) maximum
