The present study aimed at investigating the effects of a suggested strategy 2Scaffolding" which was based on Schema theory on developing reading comprehension skills for second year prep school students. To realize this aim, a quasi-experimental research study was carried out in a suburban school in Damietta , Egypt. The researcher used a checklist to determine the suitable reading comprehension skills for 2nd grade prep students and an achievement pre-post reading comprehension test to identify their actual performance before and after applying the strategy. The sample of the study consisted of 60 students divided into two classes. One class represented the experimental group using the suggested strategy ,and the other class represented the control group using the same units through the steps suggested by the Ministry of Education in" Hello 2" teacher's guide for Prep school Students. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group students and those of the control group on the post administration of the reading comprehension test in favor of the experimental group students. In addition there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the pre and post of the reading comprehension test of the experimental group students in favor of the post test
