The main objective of the thesis was to develop and evaluate mucoadhesive buccal film containing fluticasone propionate for management of severe erosive mouth lesions. The films were prepared by solvent casting technique using different polymeric blends. The prepared mucoadhesive films were subjected to extensive physicochemical evaluation, as well as studying their in-vitro drug release and mucoadhesion residence time which revealed acceptable drug content, release profiles and mucoadhesion time. The optimized formulations were subjected to DSC thermograms, XRD and the effect of storage studies. Finally, in vivo performance of the optimized formulations were evaluated in human volunteers by analysis of salivary drug concentration over 10 hrs where the pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated and compare to prepared mouthwash containing the same dose as in the mucoadhesive films
