The present study aimed at developing Experimental Prep Stage students literacy skills of reading comprehension and writing skills. To achieve this aim, a proposed teaching model of English poetry based on the constructivism theory was developed. The teaching model integrated various cooperative learning structures. The study used: 1- a questionnaire of English poetry teaching to identify the reality of teaching poetry in experimental prep stage; 2- a list of poetry literacy reading and writing skills required to be achieved by the 2nd year experimental prep stage students; 3- a pre-post poetry literacy skills test for assessing students reading and writing skills; 4- an attitude scale to determine students attitudes before and after using the proposed teaching model. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design using two groups: the experimental group and the control group. Results of the study indicated that the proposed teaching model proved to be effective in developing students poetry literacy skills of reading and writing, and their attitudes towards studying English poetry
