Assessment of the bone tunnel behaviour in ACL reconstruction with press fitt bone plug fixation / تقييم سلوك النفق العظمى فى عمليه أعاده بناء الرباط الصليبى الأمامى بأستخدام طريقه الحشر بالأسطوانات العظميه Tarek Ben Ziad Morad Ewes ; Supervised Abdelaziz Singergy , Hisham Misbah , Hazem Farouk - Cairo : Tarek Benziad Morad Ewes , 2014 - 168 P. : charts , facsimiles ; 25cm
Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
1- autologous Replacement. 2-Mimic of the AM and PL bundle in a single tunnel 3-Primary stable for forced rehabilitation. 4-Minimum of bone defects 5- The bone graft is close to the anatomic site of the ACL foot print. This means no .bungee-effect. 6- Broad based contact under pressure between the graft and the bone give rigid fixation and early graft integration. 7- The press fit tunnel placement prevents synovial fluid entering into bone tunnel, decreases bleeding out of tunnels (less postoperative swelling) and reduces windshield wiper effect. 8- The intensive contact between bony wall of the tunnel and graft-collagen a long distance may accelerate graft incorporation. 9-. Reduction of the diameter of the bone tunnel after three months. Our findings confirm that press-fit fixation may result in less bone loss in the bone tunnel 10- The fact that we do not utilize implants for fixation prevents hardware discomfort and eventually surgical removal, facilitates revision surgery, avoids metal artefacts in MRI and lowers overall costs
