This preclinical study assessed the accuracy of linear measurements conducted on stitched small field of view (SSFOV) CBCT images of 15 dry human mandibles compared to the real measurements conducted directly on the mandibles using digital caliper. A composite image for each mandible was obtained by automatic and manual stitching of 7 small FOVs using the PlanmecaRomexis software. The scans were captured using PlanmecaPromax 3D MID ultra- low dose mode (ULD). The 15 mandibles were immersed under water for soft tissue simulation and all the linear measurements were conducted under the guide of RO markers. The results showed no statistically significant difference between the direct linear measurements conducted on the 15 dry human mandibles and the measurements conducted on SSFOV CBCT images. The maximum mean difference of 0.56 mm between the direct linear measurements and the SSFOV CBCT measurements. 1.01 % error was found accepted and within the limits of the 5% clinically permissible erro
