Summary, etc. Automatic monitoring of food intake and ingestive behavior in a free-living environment remains an open problem. It has significant implications in monitoring of elderly people eating patterns, type-1 diabetes food disorders in children and management of obesity. In this study, we proposed closed loop strategies through monitoring and evaluation of various fluid and food intake activities using wireless surface electromyogram (sEMG). In this study, we addressed the problem of eating patterns disorders in elderly people and type 1 diabetes in children. The problem can be distilled into two major aspects. Monitoring and estimation of Food Intake (FoI) and Fluid Volume Intake (FVI) activities. In FoI activities estimation, we use certain types of food to estimate its quantity (QoF) by knowing its primitive food classes (PToF). Fifty-five healthy and overweight subjects participated in the experiment.

Summary, etc. يعد التتبع التلقائي للأغذية و المشروبات التى يتناولها الفرد خلال يومه أحد الطرق الفعالة لرصد و تقدير الأنماط الغذائية المختلفة و مراقبتها لدى كبار السن و مرضى السكرى والأشخاص الذين يطمحون للحصول على وزن مثالى. و يعتبر البلع أحد العمليات الحيوية و الهامة للحفاظ على الحياة ، و ينتج البلع من خلال عملية تنسيقية معقدة بين العضلات و الأعصاب. لذلك تعتبر مراقبة البلع إحدى الطرق الأكثر فاعلية لمعرفة ما يتناوله الفرد خلال يومه من مأكولات و مشروبات. يقدم هذا البحث طريقة أوتوماتيكية لمراقبة النشاط الغذائى للفرد من خلال تتبع الحركة العضلية المصاحبة لهذا النشاط. و ذلك عن طريق استخدام مجس سطحى للعضلات (sEMG) بهدف قياس الإشارات الكهربية الناتجة عن انقباض العضلات المتأثرة بالمضغ و البلع و من ثم تقدير كمية المتناول من هذا الطعام والشراب. وكل ذلك بهدف تعقب الأنشطة الغذائية اليومية بطريقة فعالة من حيث التكلفة و الإستخدام ؛ لدعم الأفراد فى محاولتهم للوصول لنمط غذائى سليم وصحة أفضل.
