| Summary, etc. | The present study investigated the effect of using a suggested strategy based on Gibbs’ Reflective Model on developing English critical reading skills among secondary stage students. It was conducted as a quasi-experiment during the first semester of the academic year (2023-2024) in Sakkara Language School Maadi, in which 40 secondary stage students (male/female) were divided into experimental and control groups, 20 students per group. The instruments of the study were EFL critical reading checklist, pre-post critical reading test, and worksheets along with a teacher’s guide to be used while implementing the suggested strategy. Results have shown that there are statistically significant differences between the test scores of both groups in favor of the experimental group. Moreover, the results of the informational passage were better than the literary one. Thus, the suggested strategy was proven to be effective in developing most of the critical reading skills addressed in this study, especially in the informational passage. |

| Summary, etc. | كان الهدف الرئيسى للدراسة الحالية قياس تأثير استخدام إستراتيجية مقترحة قائمة على " نموذج جيبز التأملي" على تنمية مهارات القراءة النقدية في اللغة الإنجليزية لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية. و قد تم تنفيذ البحث - الشبه تجريبي - في الترم الأول من العام الدراسى ( 2023-2024 ) في مدرسة سقارة للغات بالمعادى ، حيث تم تقسيم الطلبة ( ذكور و إناث) البالغ عددهم 40 إلى مجموعتين : مجموعة تجريبية (20طالباً ) و مجموعة ضابطة (20 طالباً). هذا وقد قامت الباحثة بتصميم أدوات البحث و هى كالآتى : قائمة مهارات القراءة النقدية لدى طلبة المرحلة الثانوية، و اختبار قبلي / بعدي للقراءة النقدية، وأوراق عمل ثم عمل دليل معلم لشرح الاستراتيجية المقترحة القائمة على "نموذج جيبز التأملي". ثم تم عمل امتحان قبلى/ بعدى لقياس مستوى تقدم الطلبة في استخدام مهارات القراءة النقدية. و قد تبين بعد تحليل النتائج والاحصائيات وجود فروق احصائية لصالح المجموعة التجريبية . لذلك، تم التأكد من نجاح الاستراتيجية المقترحة في تنمية معظم مهارات القراءة النقدية لطلاب المرحلة الثانوية . |
