Liver transplantation has been the most effective treatment for these patients but is critically limited by the shortage of available donor. The transplantation of autologous bone marrow-derived stem cells holds great potential for treating hepatic cirrhosis. Twenty patients with end stage liver disease that underwent autologous mesenchymal stem cells transplantation when infused into the peripheral vein
