Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Clinical and Chemical Pathology Summary: Background: Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), IGF receptors, and IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs) constitute the IGF system. Alterations of the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system have been demonstrated in different hematological and solid malignancies and provide a potential target for novel anticancer therapies. AIM of the study: Evaluating the expression of human insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2 and 7 (IGFBP2 and IGFBP7), as new candidate genes implicated in leukemia and correlating the results with the different clinical and laboratory findings of the patients.
