Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Institute of Educational Studies and Research - Department of Curricula and Instruction
The main purpose of the research was to identify the teaching needs of legal translation instructors which negatively affected their teaching. The research problem was the deficiency of the classroom performance and skills of the legal translation instructors at SCE. The study was triggered by the results of the pilot study that was conducted to know the opinions of a random sample of students about the performance of their legal translation instructors. The pilot study revealed that the instructors neglected certain pedagogical aspects and focused only on the translation strategies. Yet, there was no pedagogical framework for teaching translation. This drew the attention to the deficiency of the classroom performance of the legal translation instructors, the reasons of such deficiencies (if they exist), and whether these reasons might stem from their weak, or lack thereof, background in pedagogy
