Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: Airport construction projects are one of the infrastructure projects that require high levels of quality, accuracy, expertise and skills. This research presents a framework that aids contractors in the planning of runway construction using computer simulation. It consists of two modules; Runway simulation module and decision making module. Runway simulation module considers three types of pavements; Asphalt Construction, Concrete Construction and Asphalt with Concrete Touchdown zone Construction.Three models are considered in the developed tool to capture the different construction methods that are involved in runway projects. The decision making module is capable to selecting the best construction type using fuzzy decision-making method
