Alcoholic liver diseases are characterized by diverse but well-defined morphological changes including increased fatty deposits, alcoholic hepatitis. In advanced cases cirrhosis may develop. Ethanol causes marked degenerative changes in the liver of adult male albino rats and concomitant use of L-carnitine protects against such pathological changes
