Neurotransmitters in general and GABA in particular are very important in normal cognition and the alteration of GABergic neurotransmission is accused to be sharing in the cognitive impairment in schizophrenia. GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. Its role in cognitive functioning is mediated through its effect on neurodevelopment, on fast synaptic transmission and also on gamma band synchronization. Exploring the molecular changes and cellular genetic expression of GaBergic genes is an essential step to know more about the real functioning of GABA in patients presenting with schizophrenia. Measure the genetic expression of (GAD65), GAD67, GABA beta2 and (mGLUR7) in patients presenting with schizophrenia and finding possible correlation with cognitive functions. Modeling of schizophrenia through human induced pleuripotent stem cells (hIPSc) through reprogramming of fibroblasts into hIPSc followed by neuronal differentiation. Real time PCR was used for measurement of genetic expression. Subtests of wechsler intelligence, trail A and B and rey ostrich test were used to assess cognitive functions
