  • Issued also as CD
Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Physics Summary: This research aims to investigate the use of the Monte Carlo (MC) simulations (Geant4/GATE) to estimate the radiation doses for different field sizes at the isocenter from a medical linac. A water phantom is irradiated by using a 6 MV photon beam delivered by Siemens ONCOR linac. The percent depth doses and dose profiles at different depths are measured using two types of ionization chamber, then compared with the MC calculated data. The comparisons show satisfactory agreement with gamma index passing rates from 63.15% to 98.87%, therefore, MC simulations can be considered adequate for the assessment of the radiation doses from any medical linac
