Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: In this research the feasibility of utilizing the Re-centering capability of a dual system to create an easy-repairable structure after a severe earthquake was examined. In addition, the system{u2019}s seismic performance was evaluated by utilizing two methods of structural analyses and comparing the obtained results. Furthermore, the design provision provided in ASCE/SEI 7-10 & ANSI/AISC 341-10 were verified against the desired response. Finally, design and detailing recommendations were introduced for such structural system in order to achieve the required behavior
