Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Different methods for the determination of some drugs used for the treatment of GIT diseases, in bulk, dosage forms and in rat liver homogenate have been introduced in this thesis. These drugs are aprepitant, fosaprepitant, ondansetron, palonosetron, tropisetron, omeprazole, pantoprazole and ranitidine. Chromatographic part includes UPLC determination of some mixtures namely a binary mixture of ondansetron and omeprazole in pharmaceutical dosage form, a ternary mixture of ondansetron, pantoprazole and ranitidine in two combined dosage forms. In addition, a validated UPLC method was developed for the determination of aprepitant and its prodrug fosaprepitant and applied to an in-vitro activation of prodrug fosaprepitant to the active drug aprepitant using liver S9 fraction. Spectroscopic part includes two quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic (QNMR) methods for the determination of ondansetron (OND) and omeprazole (OMP) in bulk drugs and theirpharmaceutical dosage forms
