Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: The main objective of the thesis is discussing the values of response modification factor (R) for ordinary reinforced concrete frames in the Egyptian Code of Practice ECP-201(2012).The studied frames were divided into 3 groups with non-uniform heights and lengths. Also, comparative study between the ECP-201(2012) and the current study. It was found that R factor decreases with increasing floor heights. In addition, increasing the non-uniformity of span lengths greatly effects on the value of the R factor. The listed values of R factor in the ECP-201(2012) are conservative values and can be increased
