Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Graduate Studies for Statistical Research - Department of Statistical Quality Control and Quality Assurance Summary: This research focuses on adopting Lean Six Sigma tools in the curriculum design and development process. The purpose of the study was to describe how Lean Six Sigma method can be integrated in the curriculum design and development process and to develop a conceptual framework regarding Lean Six Sigma in the curriculum design and development process. This case study is a descriptive research that used a qualitative method to apply the DMAIC cycle in the curriculum design and development process via a project in a selected American system high school. The study was conducted in two phases. Portions of Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology were used to review, collect, interpret, and analyze data in regard to the current process. Then Lean Six Sigma tools were presented in a practical case study as an example to demonstrate their usefulness in the design process. The data was analyzed using descriptive document analysis. Content Analysis and thematic analysis were used to analyze documents, observations, and interviews. All documents that are significant to the study were interpreted by the researcher and the curriculum design committee to determine the extent to which the Lean Six Sigma tools can be applied effectively in the context of the curriculum design and development process and to develop a conceptual framework regarding LSS for the designing process. The empirical results revealed from the study showed that the Lean Six Sigma approach can be successfully applied to the curriculum design and development process and identified Lean Six Sigma tools used in each phase of the process. A new conceptual framework using LSS methodology and tools is proposed
