Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: The aim of this study was to find the difference in accuracy of implant placement using open versus closed surgical guide using split mouth technique. 18 pairs of implant were enrolled in this study as about 9 patients. A split mouth technique randomized clinical trial was the study design. Open sleeves were used in one side of surgical guide and closed sleeve in the other side. Each patient was received four implant, which were divided in two implants in each side. Radiographic template was made for each patient according to do examination CBCT.The cone-beam computed tomography was obtained as DICON (digital imaging and communications in medicine) data then imported into the Blue Sky in which the location of four implants of each suspected arch were planned in three dimensions. Then a three-dimensional virtual stent was designed then processed by a rapid prototyping unit which built it from a photo curable resin material (stereolithography) Surgical stent was fixed to it is position by light cure flowable composite then the osteotomy sites were prepared. The implants then were inserted through the surgical guide. Another CBCT was taken after surgery to show the actual placed implant
