Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Growth and Development Disorders in Pediatrics Summary: Background:Children with hemiparesis suffer from weak hand muscles, retarded hand use, delayed functional development, and limited functional mobility than normally developed children.Objective:The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mirror visual feedbackon hand functions and grip strength in children with hemiparesis. Subjects and methods:Fortychildren with hemiparesisfrom both sexes, ranged in age from five to seven years old participated in this study. They were divided randomly into two groups of equal numbers (control and study). The control group received physical therapy exercises program5times/week for four successive weeks. The study group received mirror exercises program in addition to the same program of the control group. All subjects were evaluated using hand-held dynamometer, and Peabody Developmental Motor Scale-2 before and after the treatment period. Results:Comparison of pre and post-treatment results revealed significant improvement in all measuring variables in both groups. However, the post-treatment results forthe two groups revealed more improvement in all measuring variables in favor of the study group. Conclusion: Using the mirror visual feedback helpsin improving hand functionsin children with hemiparesis
