Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacognosy Summary: Fourteen compounds were isolated for the first time from the leaves of Mimusops laurifolia (Forssk.) Friis based on bioassay guided fractionation. The leaves ethanolic extract and its different fractions were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against human liver cancer cell line (HEPG2), the highest activity was exhibited by the n-hexane fraction (IC50 14.4 og/ml) from which three triterpenes, namely; lupeol acetate, Ü-amyrin and oleanolic acid and two sterols, namely; chondillasterol and its 3-O-galactoside were isolated for the first time
