In this chapter, the summary of the study was presented to
compare between the night time Mobiderm sleeve versus the traditional
compression sleeve in reduction of post mastectomy lymphedema.
The purpose of this study was to assess which is efficient on the
upper limb lymphedema the traditional compression sleeve or the night
time Mobiderm garment. The need for this study came from the rarity of
related researches about role of different modalities in improving the
upper limb after mastectomy that cause in major cases removal of the
lymph nodes that is going to lead lymphedema where that swelling in the
limb obstructed the movement of the arm.
Sixty post mastectomy female patients was enrolled in this study .
Thirty patients were received night time Mobiderm sleeve and the other
thirty patients were received traditional compression sleeve were
recruited in this study . They were selected from Kasr EL Ani in Cairo .
Their aged ranged from 35 to 55 years .
They were classified into two equal groups in numbers :
Group (A) Mobiderm sleeve group:
This group was composed of thirty patients suffering from postmastectomy lymphedema. They received nighttime Mobiderm sleeve
daily for 3 weeks as a total period of treatment, in addition to (manual
lymphatic drainage therapy one session per day for 30 min, exercise
therapy and skin care

Group (B) Traditional compression sleeve group:
In this group, was composed of thirty patients suffering from
post-mastectomy lymphedema. They received traditional compression
sleeve daily for 3 weeks at day time for 15 hours as a total period of
treatment, in addition to (manual therapy one session per day for 30 min,
exercise therapy and skin care).
All patients were evaluated pre and post 1, post 2 of treatment
application.
The evaluation procedures were achieved through their daily
activities. Through upper extremity girth measurement to see the
circumference, and the goniometry procedure to measure the range of the
upper limb motion . The controlled data pre, post, and post 2 were
statistically compared and analyzed.
According to the reports and researches of the other investigators
in the field related to the present study , we can claimed that management
of lymphedema with the night time Mobiderm sleeve which is easily
applied exhibited continued improvement and a better control of edema
and that the traditional compression sleeve also cause progression of
lymphedema but in less extent .

شاركت ستون مريضة ممن لديهم وذمة لمفية ثانوية بعد استئصال الثدي في هذه الدراسة. تم تقسيم المرضى بشكل عشوائي إلى مجموعتين متساويتين. المجموعة (أ) تلقوا شراب الموبيديرم ليلاً يومياً لمدة 3 أسابيع كفترة علاج إجمالية ، بالإضافة إلى (علاج التصريف اللمفاوي اليدوي جلسة واحدة يومياً لمدة 30 دقيقة ، علاج بالتمارين الرياضية والعناية بالبشرة). والمجموعة (ب) تلقوا الشراب التقليدى يوميًا نهارًا لمدة 15 ساعة لمدة 3 أسابيع كفترة علاج إجمالية ، بالإضافة إلى (علاج يدوي جلسة واحدة يوميًا لمدة 30 دقيقة ، علاج بالتمارين الرياضية والعناية بالبشرة). أنتج شراب الموبيدرم الليلي تحسنًا كبيرًا موضوعيًا في الوذمة اللمفاوية الثانوية بعد استئصال الثدي أكثر من الشراب الضاغط التقليدي.
