Smoking is an important risk factor for the initiation and progression of periodontal diseases. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the influence of the smoking on the level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-Ü) in the gingival crevicular fluid of patients with chronic and generalized aggressive periodontitis compared to periodontally healthy subjects
