Effect of Partial Replacement of Total Mixed Ration by Treated Olive Cake on Sheep Productive Performance / تأثير الاستبدال الجزئي لمخلوط العليقة الكلية بتفل الزيتون المعامل على الأداء الإنتاجي للأغنام By Mohamed Abdelaal Mahmoud Abdellatef; Under the Supervision of Dr. Mohamed Sayed Farghaly, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Hanafy, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Mohammed Bakr - 69 pages : illustrations ; 25 cm. + CD.
Thesis (M.Sc.)-Cairo University, 2024.
Bibliography: pages 55-69.
This experiment aimed to study the effect of partial replacement of total mixed ration
(TMR) by treated olive cake on the productive performance of sheep in terms of digestion
parameters, nutritional values and some measurements of rumen and blood characteristics, as
well as the effect of olive cake on growth rates and feed conversion, as well as the study of the
economic study. This study consisted of two expermints: The first expermint: a pilot experiment
to study the digestion parameters and the nutritional values of five rations (TMR) as follows: the
first ration (control ration), which consisted of 26 % crushed yellow corn, 20% undecoraticted
cottonseed meal, 20% wheat bran, 20% Egyptian clover hay, 10% rice straw and 4% additives.
The second ration, which was a tested ration, consisted of 26% crushed yellow corn, 20% crushed
olive cake 15% undecoraticted cottonseed meal, 15% wheat bran, 15% Egyptian clover hay, 4%
additives, 3% rice straw, 2% soybean meal. (44% protein) and without polyethylene glycol, the
third ration is like the second TMR, but with polyethylene glycol at a rate of 0.2% from the
addition of crashed olive cake, while the fourth ration is like the second ration, but with using
milled olive cake, and the fifth ration is like the fourth with polyethylene glycol. The results
showed a decrease in the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter, crude protein, crude, fat,
nitrogen-free extract, ADF and NDF, cellulose and hemicellulose in the tested groups compared
to the control, but the best groups were the fourth and fifth. The fiber digestion coefficient
improved in the fifth group with a result close to the fourth, so the fourth group is the best
nutritionally and economically. The second expermint: a growth experiment, three groups of
Barki lambs were carried out as follows: The first group fed on the previous comparison ration.
The second group fed on the previous experimental ration No. 4 without the addition of fibrolytic
enzymes. The third group: fed on the previously tested ration No. 4 with the addition of fibrolytic
enzymes at a rate of 0.2% of the amount of olive cake used. Randomly divided 18 Barki lambs
(with an average weight of 29 ± 5 kg and 9 months old) into three groups (6 lambs/group) and
were fed on the production needs of the previous total ration in a 90-days growth experiment
According to NRC2007 for sheep. The results showed that The third group performed better in
terms of feed conversion ratio and economic efficiency than the control group, but there was no
significant influence on rumen measures or blood parameters. Animals fed rations containing
milled olive cake with the addition of fibrolytic enzymes had high nutrionally and economically
performance compared to other rations, with the exception of the control group, which was
nutritionally superior without negative effects on productive performance or animal health
