Summary, etc. | Aim: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of different CAD/CAM materials (Lithium disilicate glass ceramic, polymer infiltrated ceramic and Machinable resin composite) on the occlusal veneers fracture resistance. Methodology: A Mandibular first molar of a typodont model was prepared into flat occlusal veneer preparation. The prepared typodont tooth was duplicated using rubber base duplicating material to obtain 21 epoxy resin dies, scanned then occlusal veneers of the three groups were designed then milled to construct 21 occlusal veneers. The fabricated occlusal veneers were separated into three groups (n=7) based on the material of construction: group I: (IPS e.max® CAD occlusal veneers), group II: (Vita Enamic® Occlusal veneers) and group III: (BRILLIANT Crios®). The 21 occlusal veneers were bonded according to the manufacturer instructions to their corresponding epoxy resin dies. Then restorations were subjected to vertical compressing loading using the universal testing machine. The maximum load and the mode of failure were recorded. Results: Comparison between the three groups using One Way ANOVA test demonstrated significant difference between them as P=0.003, Group I (1035.23N) was significantly lower than group II (1863.18 N) as P=0.003, Group I (1035.23N) was also significantly lower than group III (1697.17 N) as P=0.01, Group II was insignificantly higher than group III as P=0.73. Also, Group I and II had restorable mode of failure while Group III had both restorable and non-restorable mode of failure Conclusions: All the examined CAD/CAM materials revealed fracture loads that exceed the normal range of the masticatory forces and the highest fracture resistance was achieved by the PICN (Vita Enamic) followed by the Machinable resin composite (Brilliant Crios |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
