Background: Nursing informatics is a crucial field in healthcare that requires specialized training and follow-up to adequately develop the knowledge and skills required by nurses to utilize health information technology. Aim: To examine the effect of nursing informatics training program on nurse interns’ knowledge and skills. Design: A quasi-experimental design was utilized in this study. Setting: The study was conducted at the Faculty of Nursing at Cairo University. Subjects: a convenient sample of nurse interns (n = 30) who trained in the critical care area. Tools: Two tools were utilized 1: nursing informatics knowledge questionnaire (50 items); 2: electronic medical record auditing checklist (25 items). Results: The study revealed that there was a significant statistical difference in total knowledge test scores and knowledge dimensions during different periods of assessment. The total mean score across all dimensions increased significantly from (x̄= 25.70) pre-program to (x̄=37.47) post-program and (x̄=33.97) at follow-up. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences in the total mean scores of nurse interns nursing informatics skills, with the overall total mean score increased from (x̄=17.23) post-program to (x̄=19.86) at follow-up. Conclusion: The current study found a significant improvement in nurse interns nursing informatics knowledge test scores and informatics skills immediately and three months after program implementation. Recommendations: Academic institutions should incorporate comprehensive nursing informatics curricula into their nursing education programs, Healthcare administrators should provide ongoing nursing informatics education and training to nursing staff at regular intervals.

إنَّ علم المعلوماتية في التمريض هو تخصص ضمن تقنية معلومات الرعاية الصحية يجمع بين علم التمريض وعلم الحاسب الألى وعلم المعلومات لإدارة وتَوزِيع البيانات والمعلومات والمعرفة بفعالية في سياق ممارسة التمريض. ويهدف هذا الدمج إلى تعزيز جودة الرعاية الصحية ورفع معايير الممارسة التمريضية. وتهدف برامج تدريب المعلوماتية في التمريض إلى تعزيز استخدام المعلوماتية التمريضية في صناعة الرعاية الصحية، ومواجهة التحديات مثل ارتفاع التكاليف وانخفاض التمويل والنقص في عدد افراد التمريض وزيادة حدة حالة المرضى. لذا يمكن للمعلوماتية التمريضية أن تؤثر بشكل إيجابي على نتائج رعاية الحالات الحرجة من المرضى وتخفيض تكاليف الرعاية الصحية وتحسين سلامة المرضى
تُعتبر المعلوماتية في التمريض مجالاً حيوياً في مهنة التمريض، لكن العديد من المهنيين يفتقرون إلى المعرفة بالتقنيات الرقمية. ويُقدر أن 45٪ من القوى العاملة في مجال التمريض تفتقر إلى التدريب الكافي في مهارات الحاسوب والمعارف التمريضية المتعلقة بالمعلوماتية. ويؤثر هذا النقص في التدريب على رعاية المرضى وأنظمة التوثيق السريري. وقد بذلت الحكومة المصرية جهودًا لإدخال تقنية المعلومات في المستشفيات، لكن العديد من الممرضين / الممرضات يفتقرون إلى المهارات الأساسية في استخدام الحاسوب، لا سيما أولئك الذين ليس لديهم خلفية في المعلوماتية التمريضية. لذلك، فإن التدريب على المعلوماتية في التمريض أمر ضروري لزيادة المعرفة والمهارات في المعلوماتية التمريضية، مما يمكّن الممرضين / الممرضات من استخدام السجلات الطبية الإلكترونية بفعالية وتحسين نتائج المرضى.
