Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Biochemistry Summary: Exposure to a pesticide is a very important subject that must keep in our mind as they may possess some neurotoxic properties to animals and human specifically and may cause neuro degenerative diseases, so in our study we shall to study the possible adverse effects of individual and combination of cypermethrin, a pyrethroid and chlorpyrifos, an organophosphate on adult male albino rats. Cypermethrin (25.089 mg/kg) and chlorpyrifos (16.324 mg/kg.) in addition their mixture at low doses were orally administrated to (12-14 week old) male albino rats (six animals per each one) for consecutive twenty eight days. At the end of the experiment, brain was frozen and saved until being used for (AChE and MAO) brain genes expression ,histopathological examination of some brain regions beside some liver enzymes (AST &ALT) and kidney functions (urea and creatinine) and lipid profile for our tested animals. It was found that brain acetyl cholinesterase, monoamine oxidase were significantly decreased after individually and combined intoxication with two tested pesticides. The same result was recorded in body weight after individual intoxications with cypermethrin and chlorpyrifos and LDL-C after toxicity with the mixture while creatinine was insignificantly decreased after toxicity with Cypermethrin beside the mixture, urea after toxicity with chlorpyrifos and cholesterol after toxicity with all type of our tested pesticides .on the other hand increasing in AST, ALT, Triglycerides and HDL-C after intoxication of individual pesticides and their mixture were observed while urea was insignificant increased after toxicity with cypermethrin beside the mixture. From our data we can find that cypermethrin and/or chlorpyrifos caused disruption in liver & kidney functions and lipid metabolism .also it caused reduction in neurotransmitters and their metabolizing enzymes. We suggested that these impacts supposed to affect the brain development and function of our tested animals in adult stage
