These changes can be related to scope, specifications, schedule, or costs. When change management is not effectively handled, it can negatively impact project implementation and cause delays. There are several effects that may result from poor change management in projects: Schedule delays: When changes occur in the scope, specifications, or schedule, they can lead to project delays due to the need for replanning, resource reallocation, and adjustments to the original timeline. Cost increases: Changes often result in additional costs, whether due to the extra expenses of implementing the change or its impact on resource utilization or schedule, leading to increased labor and equipment costs. Impact on project quality: If changes are not properly addressed according to the required standards and specifications, it can have a negative effect on project quality and the performance of the final product. Execution slowdown: When a change occurs in the project, it can cause a disruption in execution and shift the focus towards addressing the change instead of continuing regular work on the project. This recurring interruption in execution can result in a general delay in project completion. To mitigate the negative effects of changes on project delays, effective change management procedures should be in place. All changes need to be documented, and their potential impact on schedule, costs, and project quality should be evaluated. There should also be a mechanism for decision-making regarding the approval and effective implementation of changes.
