P38Ü mitogen activated protein kinase regulates the expression of inflammatory cytokines suggesting a role in the pathogenesis of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis as well as cancer progression . Many heterocyclic compouds have been reported to posses p38 MAP kinase inhibitory properties however the main shortcoming for development into clinical candidates were toxicity and unselectivity towards other kinases
