Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Power Engineering
Pharmaceutical laboratory of preparation and production is a clean space that must be under the classification of ISO. This clean space is affected by the particle concentration per cubic meter of volume. Particles concentration is a major concern in many industrial activities where it is affected by many factors. Examples of these factors are particle size, space activity and particle generating flux. The identification of all these factors helps to evaluate the required mass flow rate and air velocity. The cost of HVAC systems for the clean area is about 50 times the cost of HVAC systems for the same room at different application. The required mass flow rate to achieve a higher ISO classification is increasing the sizing of HVAC equipment and its cost. The present study will be divided into two steps. First, calculation of the space mass flow rate and air velocity will be done to achieve the required space ISO classification. Second, modeling of the airflow regimes will be done using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) utilizing the ANSYS 17.2 software
