Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc)-Cairo University, 2022. Summary: Background: Nurses’ commitments to the organization play a central role in their retention in the field of healthcare organizations. for better understanding what motivates nurses to be committed, organizations can benefit greatly from personality assessment. Aim: to investigate the relationship between personality traits and organizational commitment of nursing staff. Design: A descriptive correlational design was utilized. Setting: Data were collected from El-Hawamdia General Hospital. Sample: A convenient sample (n═190) of nursing staff who accepted to participate in the study were constitute the study sample. Tools: Two tools were utilized to collect data; 1- Personality traits questionnaire, 2- Organizational commitment questionnaire. Results: study findings revealed that study nurses had personality traits of conscientiousness (84.7%), agreeableness (82.2%), openness to experience (76. 7%), extraversion (71. 3%) and finally neuroticism trait (61.6%). Moreover, they had high level of organizational commitment. Conclusion: there was statistical significant positive correlation between study nurses’ personality traits and their organization commitment. Recommendations: Health organizations and academic setting should use personality traits scales in nursing personnel selection in admission, nursing managers should develop more adaptive organizational commitment activities for nursing staff in accordance to their personalities, further studies are recommended to be conducted in other governmental and private organizations for the sake of comparative analysis.Summary: لجأت المنظمات الصحية لتقديم أفضل ما عندها وذلك لمواكبة العصر الحديث فى كل تطوراته,كالاهتمام بالهياكل التنظيمية والمعدات الحديثة. ولكن فى الاونة الأخيرة التفت الباحثون الى ضرورة الاهتمام بالعاملين فى المجال الصحى من حيث طبيعة سلوكهم داخل المنظمة والطرق الكفيلة بتحفيزهم لتعزيز انتماءهم لمنظمتهم للارتقاء بالاداء الوظيفى. حيث أن نجاح المنظمة يرتبط بشكل كبير بمدى ولاء الأفراد العاملين لها وقناعاتهم بأهدافها وسعيهم للوصول اليها. مما أدى الى اجراء العديد من الدراسات الميدانية من أجل تحديد العوامل المؤثرة فى التزام العناصر البشرية والمتغيرات التى تحكم عملية الالتزام المؤسسى وحيث أن سمات الشخصية لكل فرد تسهم فى فهم الفروق الفردية فى السلوكيات والاتجاهات والمعتقدات والأحاسيس المختلفة لذا كان من المهم تحرى العلاقه بين سمات الشخصيه و الالتزام المؤسسى لهيئة التمريض بالمستشفى المختار. حيث انها مستشفى تابعة لوزارة الصحة المصرية لعله يعود بالنفع على الارتقاء بمستوى الأداء بهذه المؤسسة الهامة.
