Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Prosthodontics Summary: An in-vitro study was done to test two attachment groups medium dual retention nylon cap and medium extended range nylon cap Over which an acrylic complete overdenture the primary outcome was measuring retention force of the two attachment groups. An epoxy model was prepared with two implants in premolar area. A denture was constructed on the model with one hook in the geometric center of the denture. The forces on the denture were applied through the hook. Two attachments were constructed and picked up in the denture to be tested by applying tensile forces using a universal testing machine. In order, medium dual retention nylon cap attachment was constructed and picked up in the denture, then medium extended range nylon cap was placed in the metal housing.Every attachment subjected to five tensile forces at the Geometric center. Retention values were calculated and results were analyzed. The study concludes that: 1.using a locator as an attachment system in implant retained overdenture as a treatment plan is a simple, affordable with minimum surgical intervention. 2. Within the previous study condition the pink dual retention nylon cap show higher retention value than the red full extended nylon cap
