It canimprove critical care nurses{u2019}(CCN)knowledge and skills in management of nursing procedures especially central venous catheter (CVC) which is widely used and consider lifesaving.Aim of the study: to examine the impact of a SBEon the nurses' knowledge and practices about care of CVC.Research design: A quasi-experimental design 2one group, pre {u2013} posttest3 was utilized in this study. Research hypotheses:1)CCN 2baccalaureate degree3who will receive SBE about care of CVC will have higher mean knowledge score as compared to their pre- implementation mean knowledge score.2) CCN 2diploma degree3who will receive SBE about care of CVC will have higher mean knowledge score as compared to their pre- implementation mean knowledge score.3) CCN2Diploma degree3who will receive SBE about care of CVC will have higher mean practice score as compared to their pre- implementation mean practice score.4)CCN2baccalaureate degree3who will receive SBE about care of CVC will have higher mean practice score as compared to their pre- implementation mean practice score.Setting:Adult intensive care unit (ICU) at Damietta chest disease hospital.Sample:A convenient samples 2All available nurses3 working in the adult ICU.Tools of data collection:Two tools were utilized 1) Pre/ post- test interview questionnaire sheet.2) CCNsobservational checklist.Results:There was statistically significant difference in total knowledge score pre SBE, immediately after and two months later of both bachelor nurses (F= 53.206, P =.000) and diploma nurses (F= 58.613, P =.000). Also, there was statistically significant difference in total practice score pre SBE, immediately after and two months later of both bachelor nurses (F = 691.310, P =.000) and diploma nurses (F = 42.34, P =.000)
