Summary: This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an Autonomous Learning (AL) strategy using tablets to enhance English reading comprehension skills among first-year secondary school students. The study included 60 students from Benha Secondary School for Girls, divided into two groups: an experimental group (30 students) and a control group (30 students). The research utilized a reading comprehension skills checklist, a pre-post reading comprehension test, and the proposed AL strategy. A quasi-experimental design was employed. The experimental group used the AL strategy with tablets, while the control group followed regular instruction without technological support. The findings showed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s reading comprehension skills, particularly in inferential and critical comprehension, compared to the control group. The study concludes that integrating autonomous learning strategies with modern technology can enhance students' reading comprehension.
